Tasting Notes
This luxurious Napa Cabernet is lush and expressive on the nose with aromas of truffle, dark berries, and lavender that jump out of the glass. Rich and full-bodied on the palate, overflowing with juicy blackberry and black currant fruit. Earthy notes of tobacco and cedary oak lace a dark chocolate core.
Winemaking
2012 was an ideal growing season in Napa. No frost, followed by excellent fruit set in the spring and even ripening throughout summer. Warmer temperatures meant we harvested Montgomery Vineyards slighlty earlier on the morning of September 14th, while the Howell Mountain fruit was picked on October 18th. The two lots were kept separate throughout the entire process. The wine was fermented in 65% new French oak hand selected from four different coopers, and 35% neutral French oak. The wine aged for a total of 30 months in barrel and released in August 2016.
